All over the internet, and through instant text messages, Meme’s seem to help keep the conversations boiling. A meme is a humorous image, video, piece of text, etc. that is copied (often with slight variations) and spread rapidly by Internet users. The way that a meme relates with Web 2.0 is simple; the fact that technology tend to be advancing at rapid speeds, is what bridge these to ideas together. Web 2.0 is the state of the web as of right now, and as of right now, meme are highly popular, and are on almost every website, you can think. They’re used in many different ways, and by many different people. Drawing on the “wisdom of crowds” argument, Web 2.0 services respond more deeply to users than Web 1.0 services. Chapter 10 states, “the printing press set a pattern for communications technology discoveries to come.” This proves that mes has been around since before the invention of the internet, they just were in a much different form, and were shown to the world in a much different fashion. Now, in today’s world, we have the internet, rather that the print and press. — An example of a famous meme has got to be the Willy Wonka meme’s;
The thing that made this particular image go viral is the fact that almost everyone has seen Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory, and know that Willy’s character is known for his sarcasm. So when you flip that into real life scenerio’s that people can relate to, they will gravitate towards it, and eventually the fad will become bigger and bigger, thus making it viral.
One way that meme’s, and sites like “Can I Have a Cheezburger” can make money is by doing advertisements, and having more things that people will relate to, and that they’ll more likely find interest in.
I did try making a meme
, but I tried to make a vine. My experience with that went well, since I am already use to uploading video, images, and things of that nature on the Web. I decided to make a funny vine. It had over 800 loops, 6 likes, an 2 shares. I believe that it generated the buzz that it did, because it was funny and relatable to the people who did decide to watch and share my post.
